Each episode turns cars into the center of a sprawling magazine show, mixing studio talk with films shot on roads, tracks, and unlikely test sites. Reviews of new vehicles share space with absurd challenges, long-distance races, and head-to-head stunts that push both machines and hosts into trouble. On the show’s custom test track, notable cars are put through timed laps, while celebrities arrive to post lap times of their own and trade stories in the studio. Jeremy Clarkson and the team treat motoring as competition, argument, and spectacle, so a straightforward road test can suddenly become a cross-country bet or a challenge built to go wrong.
