Colonia
DramaRomanceThrillerWar110 min
During Chile’s 1973 military coup, Lena is separated from her boyfriend after he is seized by the secret police and taken to Colonia Dignidad, a remote religious colony with a hidden prison inside. Emma Watson is Lena, who infiltrates the compound to find Daniel (Daniel Brühl), while Michael Nyqvist’s Paul Schäfer presides over the sect’s sealed-off, authoritarian world. The story moves between the violence surrounding Pinochet’s rise and the colony’s rigid daily life, where charity and piety are used to mask control, punishment, and disappearance.
