Fresh out of prison in 1969, Hampton Chambers heads home to the San Fernando Valley expecting a long-delayed reunion and finds a family that has already remade itself without him. David Oyelowo is Hampton, a burglar-turned-inventor trying to reclaim his place while keeping his old life at a distance. In his absence, his wife and sons built an unconventional rhythm of their own, and Simone Missick brings a steady counterweight as the woman now holding that household together. As Hampton’s return upends the Chambers family, the series mixes domestic friction, neighborhood pressures, and surreal touches around questions of identity, survival, and belonging.
