DramaRomanceWar118 min

On a Hawaii army base in 1941, Private Prewitt refuses to box for his unit and becomes a target for punishment, while an affair begins between a captain’s wife and the sergeant beneath him. Montgomery Clift is Prewitt, a former boxer whose refusal to fall in line sets off mounting pressure around the barracks, with Frank Sinatra alongside him as his friend Maggio. Elsewhere, Burt Lancaster’s Sergeant Warden and Deborah Kerr’s Karen Holmes edge into dangerous territory as December 7 draws closer. Army routine, personal grievance, and forbidden romance all tighten under the approaching shadow of Pearl Harbor.
