Miracle on 34th Street
ComedyDramaFamilyFantasy96 min
When an elderly man calling himself Kris Kringle is hired as Macy’s Santa after the Thanksgiving Day parade, his uncanny sincerity unsettles as many adults as it delights children. Edmund Gwenn is Kris, and Maureen O’Hara’s Doris Walker, a practical department store executive and single mother, wants nothing to do with fantasies. As the holiday season moves through New York, Doris, her young daughter, and a lawyer played by John Payne are pulled into a public dispute that ends up in court, where Kris’s sanity—and the possibility that he may be Santa Claus—comes under scrutiny.
