Candyman

DramaHorrorThriller100 min

A Chicago graduate student researching urban legends traces a local story to the Candyman, a hook-handed ghost said to appear when his name is spoken five times into a mirror. As she interviews residents and follows the legend into the city’s housing projects, the tale stops feeling like folklore and starts pressing into her own life. The ghost’s history reaches back to the murder of a Black artist in the late 19th century, and the closer she gets to that past, the more violence gathers around her. Virginia Madsen leads the investigation at the story’s center, while Tony Todd gives the Candyman a looming, intimate menace.
