Crimes and Misdemeanors
ComedyCrimeDrama104 min
A respected New York ophthalmologist tries to end an affair before it destroys his carefully ordered life, while across town a frustrated filmmaker is saddled with a documentary about his wife’s insufferable TV-star brother. Martin Landau is Judah Rosenthal, a prominent doctor whose panic deepens when his mistress, Dolores (Anjelica Huston), threatens to expose him. Woody Allen’s Cliff Stern spends his days shaping footage around Lester, a puffed-up celebrity with no patience for anyone else, and finds himself drawn to producer Halley Reed. Their separate crises unfold in the same New York social world, where private failures keep pressing into public life.
