Gamera vs. Jiger
ActionAdventureAnimationAnimeFamilyFantasySci-Fi83 min
Gamera is called back into action after an ancient stone statue is disturbed on Wester Island, unleashing the monster Jiger and sending it toward Japan. As the creature closes in on Expo ’70 in Osaka, the giant flying turtle faces a new rival tied to buried warnings from the island. Tsutomu Takakuwa and Katherine Murphy are among the humans swept into the crisis, with scientists, officials, and children all orbiting the showdown. Island ruins, submarines, and the World’s Fair setting give the film a distinctly 1970 kaiju backdrop as Gamera tries to stop a threat heading straight for one of Japan’s biggest public events.
