As Partition redraws the border between India and Pakistan, a brothel in a remote village suddenly stands in the path of the new line. Begum Jaan, the house’s fierce madam, refuses to abandon the only home she and the women inside have built, even as officials arrive with orders to clear the land. What begins as a political decision turns into a siege, with soldiers, local power brokers, and rising violence closing in on the women from all sides.
