The Beaver

Drama91 min

After depression upends his home life and his job at a toy company, CEO Walter Black begins speaking through a beaver hand puppet instead of himself. Mel Gibson is Walter, clinging to the puppet as a way to function, while his family struggles to understand what’s happening. Anton Yelchin’s Porter, Walter’s teenage son, wants distance from a father he barely recognizes, and Jodie Foster co-stars as Walter’s wife Meredith, caught between concern and exhaustion. Directed by Foster, the film keeps its focus on one family as Walter’s unusual coping mechanism starts reshaping every conversation around him.
