The Lord of the Rings

ActionAdventureAnimationFantasy132 min

Young hobbit Frodo Baggins is charged with destroying the One Ring, a magical object forged by the dark lord Sauron and capable of bringing Middle-earth under his control. Christopher Guard voices Frodo, with Gandalf (William Squire) guiding a fellowship of nine as they leave home for a dangerous mission. Along the way, the group moves through a fantasy world of hobbits, wizards, dwarves, and supernatural threats, with the Ring’s influence hanging over every step. The 1978 animated film adapts the opening movement of Tolkien’s saga, centering on the quest to carry the Ring to the one place it can be destroyed.
