The Holy Mountain
ActionAdventureDramaFantasy114 min
An alchemist gathers a cross-section of society, assigns them the planets, and subjects them to occult rituals before leading them toward Lotus Island and the Holy Mountain, where they intend to unseat the immortal gods said to rule the universe. Alejandro Jodorowsky directs and appears in this 1973 Mexican surreal fable, with Horacio Salinas and Zamira Saunders among the figures drawn into its ceremonies. Religious imagery, satire, and elaborate symbolic tableaux shape the march from worldly excess toward ascetic transformation.
