American Factory

Documentary115 min

In Moraine, Ohio, a Chinese glass manufacturer reopens a shuttered General Motors plant, bringing thousands of jobs back to a community still marked by the factory’s closure. The film follows what happens inside as American workers and Chinese managers try to build the same company while working by very different rules. Pay, safety, speed, and authority become daily points of friction on the factory floor. As hopes for renewal run into resentment, mistrust, and a growing labor fight, the promise of reopening the plant turns into a close view of how hard it is to share work, power, and expectations across cultures.
