A Very Long Engagement

DramaMysteryRomanceWar133 min

During World War I, a young woman refuses to accept that her fiancé is dead after he disappears near the front. From home, she pieces together rumors, military records, and the stories of men who were there, convinced that the official account does not add up. Each clue pulls her deeper into a maze of battlefield punishments, missing soldiers, and people with reasons to hide what happened. As Mathilde, played by Audrey Tautou, follows the trail, the search becomes both an investigation and a test of how far love can hold against distance, time, and war.
