August Pullman enters fifth grade at a mainstream school for the first time, carrying the usual nerves of a new student along with the attention and scrutiny that come with his facial differences. Jacob Tremblay is Auggie, a bright, funny kid trying to find his place in crowded hallways and unfamiliar classrooms, while Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson are the parents balancing fierce concern with the need to let him step out on his own. As the school year unfolds through friendships, bullying, and family strain at home, the story stays with Auggie and the people around him as they adjust to a life suddenly lived in public.
