In a Tamil folk-performance community, young Koothu artist Kalyanam tries to carry forward his father’s place in a traditional art form that is starting to close in around him. He wants to earn the right to lead his own Jama, but rivals work to keep him down, and every setback feeds his self-doubt. At home, his mother pushes him toward a safer path, while his love pulls him toward a future that may not fit the life expected of him. As family pressure, romance, and community judgment converge, Kalyanam is forced to decide whether he can claim his father’s legacy on his own terms or be shaped by everyone else’s demands.
