Through a Glass Darkly
Drama91 min
After a stay in a mental hospital, Karin retreats with her family to a cottage on a small Swedish island, hoping a quiet summer will steady her. Harriet Andersson is Karin, surrounded by a husband who wants intimacy, a younger brother unsettled by her fragility, and a father, David (Gunnar Björnstrand), whose cool detachment shapes every exchange. As Karin begins slipping back into disturbing visions, the isolation of the island presses on everyone around her, and private tensions inside the family come sharply into view.
