On the eve of World War I, Albert raises a horse named Joey on his family’s farm in England, only to lose him when his father sells the animal to the cavalry. Jeremy Irvine is Albert, who follows the war to France as Joey passes through the hands of riders, soldiers, and civilians on both sides of the conflict. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the story moves from plowed fields to muddy trenches and artillery lines, tracing Albert’s search alongside Joey’s path across wartime Europe.
