The Roosevelts: An Intimate History

Documentary117 min per episode

Across wars, reform movements, and the rise of modern American government, three members of one family shape the country in very different ways. The series follows Theodore Roosevelt from his rise in public life to the presidency, traces Franklin D. Roosevelt’s path through political crisis and national emergency, and shows Eleanor Roosevelt building a public role that extends far beyond the White House. Their stories connect through family ties, ambition, loss, and shifting ideas about power and public service. Directed by Ken Burns, the documentary moves between private lives and national events to show how each Roosevelt leaves a distinct mark on American history.
