For nearly a decade, Titta Di Girolamo has lived alone in a modest hotel in Lugano, Switzerland, moving through the same cigarettes, card games, and sleepless nights while keeping his past carefully sealed off. Toni Servillo is Titta, a middle-aged southern Italian whose weekly errands and mysterious deliveries hint at a life bound to the mafia. At the hotel bar, Olivia Magnani’s Sofia is one of the few people who tries to get past his evasive manner. The film stays close to Titta’s rigid routine and the quiet, anonymous world he inhabits as that isolation begins to shift.
