Paul Giamatti is Mike Flaherty, a struggling New Jersey attorney who supplements his income by coaching high school wrestling. When Mike arranges to become legal guardian for an elderly client, he thinks he’s found a way to keep his practice afloat — until the man’s withdrawn teenage grandson shows up and turns out to be a natural on the mat. As Mike, his wife Jackie (Amy Ryan), and assistant coach Terry (Bobby Cannavale) make room for the boy, the questionable deal that brought him into their orbit gets harder to contain, especially when his mother reappears.
