At his sister’s annual Christmas party, Kirk Cameron is a fictionalized version of himself who takes it on himself to confront his brother-in-law’s holiday gloom. Christian (Darren Doane) sees Christmas as commercialized and disconnected from its religious meaning, and Kirk answers with a running defense of the season’s symbols, traditions, and celebration from a Christian perspective. Built around conversations at the party, the film mixes family-gathering comedy with an overt argument about what Christmas should represent, keeping its focus on Kirk’s attempt to bring one skeptical relative back into the festivities.
