Mira Sorvino is entomologist Susan Tyler, who engineers a mutant insect to wipe out the cockroaches spreading a deadly disease among Manhattan’s children. The species is meant to die after one generation, but three years later Susan learns it has survived and evolved. As the fallout reaches New York’s tunnels and sewers, Jeremy Northam co-stars in Guillermo del Toro’s story of a lab-made solution that turns into a new threat. Blood, nests, and an insect predator capable of mimicking human form drive the film from epidemic setup into urban creature horror.
