The Cove
CrimeDocumentaryThriller92 min
Former dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry joins filmmaker Louie Psihoyos and a small team of divers and activists on a covert mission to Taiji, Japan, where they try to document what happens inside a secluded cove kept out of public view. O’Barry, once known for training the dolphins used on Flipper, gives the investigation its personal stake as hidden cameras, disguises, and nighttime surveillance push the group past barriers onshore and at sea. The film follows their attempt to expose dolphin capture and killing, while tracing the secrecy, local pressure, and environmental questions surrounding the cove.
