Phil and Kate think they’ve found the answer to new-parent panic when they hire Camilla as a live-in nanny for their infant son, but the poised young woman brings an unease into the house that neither of them can explain. Jenny Seagrove is Camilla, all soft reassurance and unreadable calm, while Dwier Brown and Carey Lowell give the couple a protective, fraying edge as small alarms begin to gather around their child. Directed by William Friedkin, the film keeps its horror close to the nursery, folding supernatural dread into the routines and fears of a household built around a newborn.
