Death to 2020
Comedy71 min
Framed as a year-end documentary, Death to 2020 looks back at the pandemic, political upheaval, and media spectacle of 2020 through archival footage and a parade of invented talking heads. From Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, the film mixes news clips with straight-faced commentary from a large ensemble; Samuel L. Jackson and Lisa Kudrow are among the fictional authorities weighing in, while Hugh Grant and Leslie Jones turn up in the same gallery of experts, insiders, and officials. The focus stays on the year’s U.S. and U.K. flashpoints, recast as a mock retrospective assembled almost in real time.
