The Vanishing

MysteryThriller107 min

On a vacation drive through France, Rex watches his girlfriend Saskia vanish from a crowded service station, then spends the next three years chasing an answer that never comes. Gene Bervoets is Rex, worn down and increasingly consumed by the disappearance, while Johanna ter Steege's Saskia remains the absent center of the story. When letters begin arriving from the man who abducted her, Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu brings a calm, ordinary surface to someone who has hidden in plain sight. The film stays close to the routines, gaps, and small decisions around a crime that happened in broad daylight.
