This Is the End

A party at James Franco’s Los Angeles house turns into a lockdown when the apocalypse hits and a handful of celebrities are left hiding inside. Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel appear as feuding versions of themselves, with Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson all part of the increasingly panicked group. As fires, creatures, and other signs of the end of the world close in outside, the fights inside get smaller and meaner: food, attention, old resentments, and who’s actually useful. The joke runs on self-parody, with the cast turning their public images into targets while the movie leans hard into supernatural disaster.
