Flags of Our Fathers

ActionAdventureDocumentaryDramaWar135 min

After the 1945 flag-raising on Mount Suribachi is captured in an iconic photograph, three of the surviving servicemen find themselves carrying both the memory of Iwo Jima and the public meaning attached to that image. Ryan Phillippe is Navy corpsman John “Doc” Bradley, while Adam Beach’s Ira Hayes stands at the center of the Marines’ side of the story, alongside Pvt. Rene Gagnon. Clint Eastwood moves between the battle for the island and the aftermath of a single wartime moment becoming national mythology, focusing on the men behind the photograph rather than the symbol itself.
