The Diamond Arm

ActionAdventureComedyCrime100 min

When a diamond-smuggling handoff goes wrong, an ordinary Soviet man ends up with the contraband hidden in his arm cast, and the criminals have to stay close if they want it back. Yuriy Nikulin is the baffled citizen at the center of the mix-up, while Andrey Mironov and Anatoliy Papanov circle him as increasingly desperate smugglers. As the scheme spills into his home life and draws police attention, the film keeps stacking disguises, seduction attempts, and near misses around one very conspicuous injury. Leonid Gaidai’s 1969 hit turns a simple vacation mishap into a running contest between clueless respectability and organized crime.
