Cameron Vale drifts through life assaulted by other people’s thoughts until a scientist for the security firm ConSec recruits him into a hidden war among “scanners” — psychics who can read minds, control bodies, and kill at a distance. Stephen Lack is Vale, pushed into training as ConSec tries to use his abilities against Michael Ironside’s Darryl Revok, a renegade scanner organizing others for a violent campaign. David Cronenberg frames the conflict as corporate conspiracy and psychic warfare, with telepathy and telekinesis erupting into sudden acts of gore.
