High Fidelity

ComedyDramaRomance113 min

After his longtime girlfriend leaves, Chicago record-store owner Rob Gordon starts revisiting his “top five” breakups, sorting through old romances with the same obsessive logic he brings to music. John Cusack is Rob, a thirtysomething vinyl lifer whose semi-failing shop doubles as headquarters for endless debates with his clerks; Jack Black’s Barry brings the loudest opinions, while Todd Louiso’s Dick is quieter but no less exacting. As Laura (Iben Hjejle) slips out of his life, Rob bounces between memory, self-justification, and awkward attempts to figure out where things keep going wrong.
