A married concert violinist becomes drawn to his daughter’s gifted piano teacher, and a professional invitation soon pulls them beyond the concert hall. Leslie Howard is the renowned musician, whose tour plans and family life begin to collide once he asks the young accompanist to travel with him. Ingrid Bergman, in her Hollywood debut, is the piano teacher whose closeness with him grows through lessons, rehearsals, and performances. Edna Best appears as the wife left to face the strain that follows. The story stays close to the tensions between public artistry, private desire, and the cost of turning collaboration into romance.
