In 1825 Van Diemen’s Land, Aisling Franciosi is Clare, a young Irish convict who heads into the Tasmanian wilderness to hunt down a British officer (Sam Claflin) after a devastating act of violence against her family. To track him across unfamiliar country, she relies on an Aboriginal guide whose own life has been shaped by the colony’s brutality. Their pursuit moves through rough bush, military outposts, and the daily violence of British occupation, tying Clare’s private revenge to the wider history of colonization in Tasmania.
