Charlton Heston is Moses, caught between palace privilege and a divine command, while Yul Brynner's Rameses stands on the other side of that reckoning as Egypt's ruler and Moses' rival. Cecil B. DeMille follows the story from the royal court and the bondage of the Hebrews to the Exodus and the journey to Mount Sinai, where Moses receives the law that gives the film its title.
