After they lose their university jobs, three parapsychologists turn their fringe research into a ghost-catching business in New York City. Bill Murray is Peter Venkman, the glib frontman of the operation, working alongside Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz and Harold Ramis’s Egon Spengler as reports of paranormal activity spread across Manhattan. When strange events erupt in the apartment building of Sigourney Weaver’s Dana Barrett, their small startup gets pulled toward a much larger supernatural threat. The film threads dry one-liners through office-comedy chaos, homemade science gear, slime-covered investigations, and a version of Manhattan suddenly crowded with ghosts.
