Former NYPD detective Jericho Cane now works private security in New York, where a routine protection job puts him in the path of a banker (Gabriel Byrne) possessed by Satan. As New Year’s Eve approaches, Jericho learns the target is Christine, a young woman marked since birth and drawn into a struggle involving priests, cultists, and the Devil himself. Arnold Schwarzenegger is Jericho, a battered ex-cop whose cynicism keeps colliding with prophecy, while Robin Tunney’s Christine stands at the center of a countdown tied to the turn of the millennium.
