Ata Demirer is Hüseyin, a young clarinet player from a village in Thracian Turkey whose quiet life with his grandparents changes when he heads to Istanbul in search of his estranged father. The city first gives him his music to lean on, then an unlikely ally in Firuzan, a nightclub singer with an album in the works and a complicated life of her own; Demet Akbağ brings the part a big, bustling presence. With Hüseyin also carrying his feelings for nurse Müjgan, the story moves between village innocence, Istanbul nightlife, and the trouble that follows when he lands in a world far larger than the one he knows.
