Butter
ComedyDrama91 min
When her husband is forced to retire from Iowa’s annual butter-carving contest, Jennifer Garner’s Laura Pickler decides she’ll keep the family name on top by entering herself. The plan unravels when Yara Shahidi is Destiny, a 10-year-old foster child whose natural talent turns her into an immediate contender. Ty Burrell’s Bob, the longtime local champion, is no help as Laura’s rivalry widens to include hangers-on, scandal, and sabotage. Framed around a state-fair competition but pointed at bigger ideas about ambition, image, and small-town politics, the story turns an unlikely craft into a sharply contested public stage.
