Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom
DramaHorror117 min
In 1944 fascist Italy, four powerful libertines abduct nine teenage boys and girls and shut them inside a secluded villa for 120 days of organized physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. Paolo Bonacelli and Aldo Valletti are among the men at the center of the regime, while Caterina Boratto and Hélène Surgère appear within the household that carries out and witnesses their rules. The film relocates the Marquis de Sade’s story to the last days of Italian Fascism, framing its cruelty through rigid ceremony, authority, and confinement.
