I Am Not Madame Bovary
ComedyDrama128 min
After a staged divorce meant to secure housing goes wrong, Li Xuelian heads from her county town toward Beijing to challenge the husband who smeared her name and the officials who dismiss her case. Bingbing Fan is Li, stubborn and increasingly isolated as each appeal pushes her deeper into the court system. Wei Fan's Qin Yuhe turns a private arrangement into a public accusation, leaving Li to fight both gossip and bureaucracy. What starts as a domestic dispute widens into a portrait of face, reputation, and red tape in contemporary China.
