The Rockford Files

CrimeDramaMystery48 min per episode

In Los Angeles, private investigator Jim Rockford works out of a trailer, taking cases that look routine until they tangle him with con men, missing people, bad debts, and suspects the police have already written off. He is not a polished super-sleuth; he scrambles for leads, gets roughed up, and often has to talk his way past trouble before he can prove what really happened. Each case pulls him into a different corner of the city, while his retired truck-driver father Rocky, played by Noah Beery Jr., worries from the sidelines and sometimes gets drawn in himself. James Garner anchors Rockford as a detective who keeps chasing answers even when the smart move is to walk away.
