The Current War
Drama102 min
In late-19th-century America, Thomas Edison races to make his direct-current system the standard for electric power, only to meet fierce opposition from George Westinghouse and a rival alternating-current model. Benedict Cumberbatch is Edison, a celebrated inventor determined to control both the technology and the public story around it, while Michael Shannon’s Westinghouse pushes for a cheaper, wider rollout. As patents, demonstrations, and business deals turn electricity into a national contest, Nikolai Tesla (Nicholas Hoult) enters the fight with ideas that sharpen the divide between the two camps.
