High Plains Drifter

DramaMysteryWestern105 min

A nameless gunfighter rides into the settlement of Lago and, after gunning down three men who try to kill him, is hired by the townspeople to defend them from three outlaws on the way back. Clint Eastwood is the Stranger, a cool, watchful presence in a town that wants his gun more than it wants his company. Verna Bloom is among the locals drawn into Lago’s fear and suspicion as the Stranger accepts the job on his own terms, and the film pushes its showdown setup toward something darker and more elusive.
