Cha Seung-won is the man at the center, hoping to steer his pupils toward Seoul so he can move on to a better post himself. Instead, his scheme pulls him deeper into the school and the village around it, forcing him to reckon with the job he has treated as a dead end. With Byun Hee-Bong in the supporting cast, the film tracks an opportunist’s shift into something closer to a committed teacher.
