Save the Last Dance
DramaFamilyRomance113 min
After her mother’s death, Sara moves to Chicago’s South Side to live with her father and start over at a majority-Black high school. Julia Stiles is Sara, a ballet student whose plans have been knocked off course; through Chenille and her brother Derek, she finds her way back to dancing in clubs, practice sessions, and after-school stretches of borrowed time. Sean Patrick Thomas’s Derek meets her there with his own feel for rhythm, and their relationship takes shape under the pressure of family expectations, classmates, and the racial lines around them.
