At Seattle’s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, surgical interns, residents, and attending doctors balance life-or-death cases with romances, rivalries, and the pressure of moving up the ranks. Ellen Pompeo anchors the ensemble at the center of the hospital’s shifting relationships, with Sandra Oh among the surgeons whose ambition and friendship shape the early years. Between the operating room and the break room, the series follows how medical crises spill into personal lives, marriages, and careers, as the staff takes on new patients, harder choices, and the constant upheaval inside a major teaching hospital.
