The Lady Improper
Drama108 min
Charlene Choi is Siu Man, a woman whose carefully ordered life starts to come apart when her husband leaves, citing the distance she keeps even in marriage. Looking for a reset, she takes over her father’s restaurant, where the daily work of keeping the place running collides with family expectations and her own uncertainty. In the kitchen, Kang Ren Wu brings a looser energy as a new chef who treats cooking less like routine than a way of thinking. As the restaurant becomes Siu Man’s new center, the film follows her as she confronts desire, shame, and the limits she has put on herself.
