Prayers for Bobby

DocumentaryDramaRomance90 min

In Walnut Creek, California, Bobby Griffith grows up as the favorite son in a tightly religious family, then risks that place when he tells them he is gay. Ryan Kelley is Bobby, a teenager pulled between his faith, his family, and a self he can no longer keep hidden. At the center of the household is Sigourney Weaver’s Mary Griffith, whose devotion to church and certainty about right and wrong shape the family’s response. Based on a true story, the film stays close to the pressures inside one home as private belief collides with love, fear, and intolerance.
