In modern-day South London, five ordinary Black British strangers suddenly develop superpowers linked by a shared family history of sickle cell disease. Their abilities erupt in the middle of everyday lives, turning personal struggles, relationships, and ambitions into something far more dangerous. As they try to understand what is happening to their bodies, the connection between them becomes impossible to ignore. Michael, played by Tosin Cole, is pulled into bringing the group together while each person reacts differently to power they never asked for. At the same time, a secret organisation closes in, determined to track, control, and use them before they can decide for themselves what these powers mean.
